The Surveyor’s Name
A distinguished name in the corner of a sheet attests to the work that officer did. Reprint it beside soundings from elsewhere and the authority travels while the attestation does not. A doctor’s name on a supplement page works by exactly that mechanism.
Authority attaches to a specific piece of work and does not spread. These three keep the boundary marked.
No clinician has reviewed this material, no name appears on it, and we do not describe it as medically reviewed. Saying so plainly is more useful than a badge would be, because a badge invites you to substitute someone else’s judgement for the sources, which are all cited and all checkable.
The distinction here is between a clinician endorsing a product and a clinician advising you. The second is the valuable thing and it cannot be printed on a page, because it depends on knowing who you are — which is the entire reason an endorsement and a consultation are not substitutes.
Every factual statement here rests on a named document you can open rather than on a person you are asked to trust. That is a weaker form of reassurance and a stronger form of evidence, and we would rather have the second. We sell no supplement, hold no affiliate arrangement, and publish no testimonials.
Nothing here suggests doubting doctors, and reading it that way inverts the argument. The point is narrow: a clinician’s name attached to a product is not the same thing as a clinician attending to you, and only the second carries the expertise that matters. Scepticism about an endorsement is not scepticism about the person endorsing, who may be entirely competent and entirely uninvolved in the claim being made.
